Wood Whittle 101

In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the art of whittling as a creative and grounding practice. Through guided instruction and skill-building activities, participants will learn foundational woodworking techniques while developing patience, focus, confidence, and creativity in a supportive environment. No prior woodworking experience is necessary. All materials, tools, and safety equipment are provided.

Fridays | 4:00-5:15 pm
June 19, June 26, July 17, and July 24

Location: Woven Path Art Therapy Studio
202 E. Division St., Ishpeming, MI

Cost: $60 (includes supplies for you to take home)

Ages 16+

Pre-registration is encouraged. Space is limited.

In this workshop, you can:

  • Learn basic whittling techniques and safe tool handling

  • Develop confidence using woodworking tools and materials

  • Create simple carved projects while building practical skills

  • Practice patience, focus, and distress tolerance through hands-on creative work

  • Connect with others in a welcoming and supportive community environment

  • Explore creativity through the timeless craft of woodworking

Whether you have experience working with wood or are picking up a carving knife for the first time, this workshop welcomes all skill levels and encourages curiosity, creativity, and growth through making.

This is a space for learning, creativity, skill-building, and community. Facilitated by Gretchen Berglund-Ludwig, an art therapy intern with Woven Path Art Therapy and Counseling.
